In the spring, the Agora archaeological park becomes a shelter for wild roses, cyclamens, asphodels, and crocuses. Trees shade the pathways, and the ground is covered in anemones and daisies. Many of these plants are wild, but some were deliberately introduced to Athens in Classical times. Evidence for structured antique gardens has been discovered from the Temple of Hephaistos, while ancient writers describe the many uses plants could be put to.
